WATCH FAIR REVIEW PART 3

WATCH FAIR REVIEW PART 3

19.05.2014

The third piece I have highlighted from this year’s Watch Fairs was presented at the Basel World show, and takes a step back from the high complications to something altogether more classic and simple. Strangely enough I am talking about a watch from Hublot, who are not always associated with Classic and Simple.

The watch in question is the Classic Fusion Power Reserve 8 Days Titanium.

This is a more refined piece from Hublot, but still with their signature look. It is available in either 18-carat King gold or Titanium. The case is 45mm in diameter and stands only 4.40mm high. A manual wind calibre is used with an 8 day power reserve which is displayed on the dial, along with date, sub seconds and hours/minutes. Personally, the power reserve is one of my favourite functions on a manual-wind watch, as it is always nice to have a reminder to wind your watch. Imagine a car with no fuel gauge!

The dial is clear, fuss-free and easy to read. In either finish the watch is elegant, and like its name suggests a classic. Sometimes simplicity is more beautiful, and on the wrist it feels fabulous. The flatness holds perfectly on the wrist with the wide black crocodile leather strap and Hublot's folding clasp. This is a great watch for all occasions, whether it be formal or relaxed, and I can see this watch getting plenty of wrist time.
